Chairside Darkroom
For complete details on the use of Rinn Chairside Darkrooms, please see the instruction manual that accompanies each unit.
Processing a Film in the Chairside Darkroom
For a successful radiograph, you will need: the Rinn Chairside Darkroom or Mini-Darkroom, Rinn Rapid Process Developer and Fixer, and your undeveloped film.
- Fill the 8 oz. beakers with appropriate chemistry or water (marked on inside on unit). Place all needed items inside the Chairside and close the light filter top.
- Place your arms through the sleeves on the front of the unit. Unwrap the undeveloped film and place the film on a processing hanger.
- Dip the film into the developer beaker for 10 to 15 seconds. Then rinse in the water and place in the fixer for 10 to 15 seconds. Wash the film thoroughly. For archival quality radiographs, the film must be returned to the fixer for at least 4 minutes, and then rinsed in running water for 30 seconds.
Helpful Hints
- Rinn Rapid Process chemistry bottles, once opened, last approximately 30 days. They should be stored in a cool, dry place.
- The Rinn Rapid Process Developer and Fixer, in the beakers, lasts approximately 4-5 days or up to approximately 100 films.
- The Mini-Ray Duplicator can be used in conjunction with the Rinn Chairside Darkrooms.
